A teacher at Mesa Middle School in Arroyo Grande is on administrative leave after an “incident” at the school Tuesday afternoon, according to a representative with the Lucia Mar Unified School District.
In a message sent to families, school officials said the incident is under investigation and they are working closely with the San Luis Obispo County Sheriff’s Office.
Details regarding the incident have not been released, but school officials said the teacher was placed on leave as soon as administrators were alerted to the situation. They said there are no imminent threats to students or staff.
“Your students personal safety and educational experience is important and we want to assure you that we are doing our due diligence to address the matter at hand,” the message read. “We are taking this matter seriously and appreciate you allowing us the time to complete a thorough investigation.”
Because the incident involves school personnel, officials said they could not share any further information.
KSBY News has reached out to the sheriff’s office and will update this story with new information as it becomes available.
