UPDATE (8:17 a.m.): According to the Federal Bureau of Prisons, two Federal Correctional Complex (FCC) Lompoc employees were taken to the hospital for observation following possible exposure on Monday morning. Prison officials did not say what they were exposed to, but said the matter is under investigation.
Both employees were later released, and no other employees or inmates were impacted.
ORIGINAL STORY: The Santa Barbara County Fire Department is helping investigate a hazardous materials incident in Lompoc.
In a post on X, the department said the incident happened on the 3900 block of Klein Boulevard, which is near the Federal Correctional Institution.
Details on the investigation are limited.
